Custom Inlay
Custom inlay patterns for face-grain boards and bowls are now an option. I don't use a CNC machine or laser engraver. The inlays are naturally-colored hardwood and are typically about 1/4 inch thick. The process is meticulous. The recipient wood panel is re-sawn on the bandsaw. A stack cutting technique is employed using the scrollsaw set with a 2-2.5 degree bevel. The inlay is press-fit secured with Titebond 3 wood glue to create a permanent, water-proof bond.
